some remains of organisms

to be preserved intact over time

it can last even millions of years

it occurs when an organism is

trapped in amber

covered by mud

which

hardens and becomes rock

a resin that vitrifies

covered by sediments that settle
at the bottom of water (lake and marine environments) which petrify

it occurs in several stages
