in the beginning it is

a mass of incandescent matter

after hundreds of thousands of years

the surface cools and solidifies, forming the Earth’s crust

but

inside the Earth it is still burning

the incandescent material comes out, breaking the ground and creating volcanoes

4 billion years ago

the vapours from eruptions and cooling create immense clouds full of rain

for thousands of years

it fell on most of the Earth’s surface, creating the oceans and the seas
